Town of North Kingstown, RI (population under 30,000) seeks experienced individual for position of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Under Superintendent’s supervision directs and participates in maintenance of Golf Course areas, including but not limited to tees, greens, fairways, driving range and cart paths, as well as the maintenance building and clubhouse landscaping. Effectively and efficiently manages a crew of 6-10 scheduling their tasks and use of equipment. Fertilizer and pesticide applications/and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment. Participates in operation of maintenance of pumps, and drainage and irrigation systems. Assists with maintenance and repair of motorized and mechanical equipment. Assists in removal of snow and salt applications at clubhouse and maintenance facilities. Prepares concise reports and maintains effective employee and public relations. May serve in Superintendent’s capacity during an absence.
Candidates should have: Turfgrass Management Certificate and/or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred; 2-4 years Golf Course experience in managerial role; possession of valid driver’s license; possession or be able to obtain current State 3B certification or licensing as pesticide applicator; proficiency in computer use and knowledge of Microsoft and other applications; knowledge of rules of the game of Golf.
