2nd Assistant Superintendent/ Spray Tech

Valley Country Club is a Private 18-hole golf course and originally a 9 hole in 1924 and 9 holes added in 1963, golf course with a Toro Irrigation system, along with a Practice Putting Green, Driving Range with Short Game Practice Greens and Bunker, Significant Oak Trees, and an irrigation pond.

Job responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the Director of Grounds and 1st Assistant Superintendent in day-to-day operations.

• Ability to supervise and handle delegation of duties to a crew of approximately 10.

• Should have a working knowledge of turf types, diseases, insects, and other potential turf problems.

• Knowledge of operation and maintenance of irrigation systems and repairs as needed.

• Flexibility to adapt to unexpected changes to daily work orders, weather conditions

• Liquid and granular fertilizer applications, pesticide, and other plant protectant applications.

• Daily course setup and inspection.

• Participate in Capital projects with new tee boxes, bunker renovation, fairway renovation with overseed, new Toro Control System installation, and challenging POA Greens with low pH.

• One day of weekend crew supervision.

• Course will be operated as a “resort course operation”. Early operations daily for approximately 4-8 hours per day, 6 days per week with rotation of days off.

Requirements:

• Must have valid driver’s license.

• Must have or be able to acquire a Rhode Island pesticide applicators license.

Experience Requirements

• Pesticide/Fertilizer application experience a plus

• Irrigation repair experience a plus but not necessary.

• Recent or upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation:

$25 to $30 per hour plus overtime. Target hiring- April 1st, 2025
