GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

Town of North Kingstown, RI (population under 30,000) seeks experienced individual for the position of Golf Course Superintendent at a busy, public 18-hole course with driving range and 35,000+ rounds per year. The individual will be responsible for the grooming and maintenance of the golf course, including the maintenance of buildings and clubhouse landscaping as well as the management of the golf course staff. The Superintendent is responsible for setting the standards for course maintenance year-round and employees under supervision with high expectations for golf course conditions.
Candidates should have: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in the management of golf course grounds; Membership in the GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America); Experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent; Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy and/or Horticulture;
Necessary Knowledge and Skills include: Ability to recruit and manage seasonal employees in a difficult labor market; Ability to plan, supervise and evaluate the work of others; Knowledge of practices associated with maintenance operations of a golf course; Knowledge of golf course equipment and repairs; Knowledge of proper grasses, fertilizers, mowing, irrigation (Rainbird computerized irrigation system with over 1,000 heads double and triple rows); Knowledge of regulations pertaining to employment, worker safety, pesticide storage and usage.
Working conditions include both indoor and outdoor during unfavorable weather conditions. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include Family Medical and Pension, approved dues & expenses and golfing privileges.
