About Fall River Country Club
Nestled along the Taunton River, Fall River Country Club (FRCC) offers breathtaking water views throughout the course. Established in 1895 as a nine-hole layout, the club has continued to evolve. Over the past five years FRCC has undergone several significant upgrades, including a complete redesign of the 4th hole and major improvements to the 2nd hole.
Position Overview
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for managing all daily operations of the agronomy department, with a focus on planning, organizing, and overseeing all facets of golf course maintenance. This individual will manage staffing, training, safety protocols, and all chemical and fertilizer programs.
This position reports directly to the Green Chairman and Club President.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversee all agronomy operations, procedures, and controls to meet established budget requirements.
• Foster a positive team environment focused on professional development and growth.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor all maintenance staff, including seasonal employees.
• Prepare annual operating and capital budgets and take corrective action to ensure financial goals are met.
• Direct and participate in course construction, renovation, and landscaping projects to maintain a visually appealing and highly functional golf course.
• Develop and implement maintenance programs that ensure the course remains in excellent condition, including proper application of pesticides and fertilizers.
• Demonstrate hands-on experience with irrigation systems, pump stations, moisture management, and water-conservation practices.
• Ensure proper use, storage, and disposal of chemicals, petroleum products, and other regulated materials in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Organize management and staff meetings and participate in committee meetings as directed by the Green Chairman.
• Advise and assist the Board of Directors in implementing policies and long-term strategies that enhance course conditions and operational efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with the membership, Golf and Green Committee, and staff.
• Utilize strong interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and collaborate with staff, members, and management.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance.
Experience & Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years as a Golf Course Superintendent or First Assistant Superintendent.
• Degree or certificate in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or Soil Science.
• All relevant chemical and pesticide certifications are required.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Excel, for operational planning and budgeting.
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary commensurate with experience $95,000 to $130,000
